FAQ

What's an average therapy session like?

The therapists at our clinic have warm, collaborative, curious, and compassionate therapy styles. We can provide structured conversation, but are similarly happy to explore and meander. Art-making can be woven into sessions as well, as images are simply another language we can use to support ongoing reflection.

If there's a particular event or focus you'd like to explore, we can start there. During the first few sessions, some questions our therapists like to explore are, "where are you at now", and "what brought you here?". For example, what was modelled for you in the household you grew up in? How do you tend to relate to others? What's your relationship to grief, conflict, or anger like? From here, more questions and areas of focus can emerge.

Is your office building/space accessible? What COVID precautions do you take for in-person sessions?

1 Dundas St W is accessible from the street-level sidewalk, and equipped with elevators from the ground floor to our office space. Our offices are private rooms within the Regus offices on the 25th floor. The door to our office does not yet have an accessible entryway, though we am happy to assist folks who use mobility aids or wheelchairs.

Our offices continue to require masking (KF95s are provided upon request) to ensure community care for everyone. Our offices are also equipped with air purifiers.

Staff and other renters at the Regus office may/may not wear masks at their own discretion.

Do you offer virtual (video/telephone) sessions?

Yes! All sessions can be offered virtually. Sessions are conducted via Jane– a secure, remote video and audio conferencing tool. Phone sessions remain an option for those who prefer this, though this offers slightly less security than a video call through Jane.

What payment options do you accept? Do you accept insurance or direct billing?

Our preferred way of payment is by credit card, which can be added to your Jane profile. We also accept e-transfers, to info@phoebechin.com.

We do not offer direct billing. Most insurance plans cover Registered Psychotherapists. Please check with your insurance plan to see if they cover RP's– if so, after the payment has been received, you'll be sent a receipt which you can submit to your insurance (after which you'll be reimbursed according to your plan).
